MELBOURNE CUP DAY 1973, JONATHON MAYNE & HELMUT REITMULLER WIN NON-STOP 100 MILE RACE ON GOULBURN RIVER.
Jonathon Mayne is a Life Member of FCC.

Helmut had been the C1 champion of North Germany and became a member of FCC after marrying Elke Sager in Germany. Jonathon figured that Helmut was “was the best technician I had ever seen”, recruited him for the Murray Marathon and “and we became the fastest TC2 in the land”.

Helmut was a straight shooter and was once asked: “How come those guys from Albury beat you?” Helmut replies. “Dey vos bedder”.
