FCC at the 2024 Australian Canoe Marathon Championships

The Paddle Australia Canoe Marathon and SUP Championships were held at Encounter Lakes, South Australia on 5-7 April.  There were excellent facilities for paddlers and spectators and the course was interesting with multiple laps of a canal estate.

From a Fairfield Canoe Club perspective it was a great success:
6 Fairfield paddlers made the trip west:
  • Bradley Buissink
  • Tyson Buissink
  • Aidan Han
  • Tony Ladson
  • Tim Symonds
  • Anthea Tan

Notable results included:

  • Anthea Tan:  1st in K/S W U18 short course,   2nd in K2 X U18 (with Connor Jacob),  2nd in K2 W U18 (with Maya Murphy),  1st in K/S W U16
  • Tyson Buissink: 1st in K/S M U18 short course, 1st in K/S K2 M U12 (with Kaiden Scott), 1st in K/S M U12
  • Bradley Buissink: 2nd in K1 M U18 short course, 3rd in K2 X U18 with Maya Murphy, 1st in K2 M U18 (with Connor Jacob), 2nd in K1 M U18.
In addition, Axel Tan was one of 3 u14 boys who raced up in the u16s short course ICF and achieved a credible 4th placing in the k1 against older boys.
Aidan Han also had a very creditable performance in the Open M K2, finishing 4th with David Ceddia.
