Club coaches

Australian Canoeing qualified coaches are available for kayak and canoe instruction.
All of our coaches have at least Level one Paddle Australia instruction qualifications. Many of our coaches run our various classes and are also available for private group or individual instruction. Dasha Kopecek

Dasha

Dasha is a level two flatwater coach for Sprint and Marathon paddling at intermediate to advanced level.  Interests: Masters, Women and trasntion to kayak (from other paddle/water sports).  Coaching availability Tues/Wed and Sat afternoon’s – by appointment.

Personalised and small group (2 – 4 people) sessions. Mentor coaching via telephone support – for paddling, health and fitness. Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP – ESSA).

Alex Boyd

Alex is a Level 1 Accredited Kayak Coach specializing in Sprint and Marathon Coaching at State and National Level. Alex came through the Trinity Program under the tutelage of FCC Club Coaches Joe Alia, Peter O’Leary and Kieran Dews.  Alex’s coaching experiences include coaching at both Trinity and Strathcona, additional Sprint and Marathon Education with British Canoeing and being the Team Manager for Victoria at the Canoe Sprint National Championships in 2021. In 2020 Alex was named the inaugural Paddle Victoria Coach of the Year.  Outside of Paddling, Alex is also involved in the governance of Modern Pentathlon Australia as Secretary and works in the Education Department of Gymnastics Australia.

Tony Payne

Tony Payne

Tony has over 20 years experience as an FCC level one coach (now Foundation Coach – Flatwater). He is one of the coaches running the FCC Beginners courses and Come and Try Days for both flatwater kayaking and canoeing. Tony has developed his experience from participation in the Murray Marathon and other long distance races and is available for private coaching for paddlers new to the sport who wish to progress beyond beginner level.”
