Fairfield has a proud history of canoe and kayak sprint at State, National and International level. Our club's top sprint capability is gradually being built back up.
To support our sprinters and to encourage other club members to have a go at sprint racing (which is, after all, the Olympic side of our sport for most of us) we hold sprint races at Fairfield during the Spring and Summer, occasionally on a Sunday morning in place of the "Zoli" session (9am Sunday, all welcome) and at other times as advertised in eNews. These sprint races are fairly informal, are open to all, and are held either on the Straight near the freeway (Zoli's Straight) or on the "almost straight" out the front of FCC.
Out the front of FCC there's a 150m down stream sprint from the Yarraford Avenue corner down to the centre of the FCC dock, and a 450m upstream sprint from the end of the Fairfield Boathouse dock to the centre of the FCC dock.
